The Tea Room lets enthusiasts explore the world of Japanese green tea with Peace Oriental Teahouse.
Ancient recordings indicate that tea first became a drink of the religious classes in Japan when Japanese priests and envoys sent to China to learn about its culture brought the leaves back to Japan. Today, tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water, and continues to be held in high esteem not only for its variety, but also its wide ranging health benefits.
To honour the importance of tea, many traditional ceremonies and rituals still take place around the world. At Four Seasons Private Residences Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, The Tea Room takes guests on a mouthwatering journey with each of its themed events.
For the third edition of this exclusive event in March, tea enthusiasts discovered sensational tastes from the world of Japanese tea indulgences at the invitation-only signature tasting held at the Sales Gallery for Four Seasons Private Residences Bangkok.
Experienced tea connoisseur, Mr. Teerachai Limpaitoon, appropriately nicknamed “Tee”, who is the Founder & Tea Master of Ekkamai’s Peace Oriental Teahouse, led the afternoon of discovery. Mr. Limpaitoon is the tea world’s equivalent of a super barista, and specializes handcrafting natural single-estate harvest blends and botanicals with an emphasis on teas with Japanese and Chinese origins.
During the tastefully indulgent afternoon, tea lovers learned secrets of brewing the renowned three-course Gyokuro, a series of the finest Japanese green teas featuring a hot brew, cold brew and seasoned Gyokuro leaves.
Along with brewing workshops and stimulating discussions, guests also had the opportunity to savour Mr. Limpaitoon’s traditional Matcha and Sakura Mochi (fine red bean paste wrapped in a thin mocha and pickled sakura leaf), while learning for themselves how to properly brew traditional Matcha tea. They also sampled Khun Tee’s signature ‘Koicha Cream’, a dish of rich ice cream set delicately on a sea of Matcha.
